Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

What becomes of the maturing raver, children in tow and the knees no longer fit to dance for three days solid on a diet of two soggy noodles?

Both beats- and family-friendly, the blissful Camp Bestival might just be the answer. Kicking off in time for the summer holidays, the little sister of Rob da Bank's much-loved Bestival is offering The Gruffalo, Shrek the Musical and Mr Tumble for kids.

In a similar but scarier vein, it's got Happy Mondays for grown-ups, with their own Mr Tumble in tow: Mr Bez. Hot Chip will please those who prefer a sweeter class of beats than the old nosebleed techno; vintage disco grooves come from Chic and Kool and the Gang; Adam Ant proves age is no barrier to rock'n'roll; and Little Dragon, King Creosote and Jon Hopkins, and Frankie Rose all provide choice trimmings.

Consider it the best(ival) of both worlds: classy enough for kids and fun enough for grown-ups who aren't anyway near retiring from the festival frolics of old.
