Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Miles Kane dropped by The Independent's Music Box studio to help us launch season 4.

The solo artist, also of The Last Shadow Puppets with Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner, recently released his third album Coup de Grace, which featured lyrical contributions from Lana Del Rey and Jamie T. The album made it to the top 10 in the UK album charts.

Kane told The Independent earlier this year that Coup de Grace was something of a breakup album – his "Adele moment".

“I got in a bit of a rut, I couldn’t focus… and then I went through this breakup and got a bit ‘Adele’, even before it properly happened," he said.

He also revealed how the album was packed full of punk, rock and pop influences, from The Damned to Marc Bolan.

“There was something about that stuff that I found I really enjoyed, being like that – loose and a bit wild," he said. "I was trying to write some tunes with that tone, like I was losing the plot, and it seemed to suit me quite well... I’m very flamboyant onstage, that’s probably my favourite side of all this.”

For Music Box, Kane performed three tracks off the new record: "Too Little Too Late", "Wrong Side of Life" and "Killing the Joke". Watch the session in full (above).

Music Box continues every Monday at 12pm – The final episode of season 4 airs on 26 November. Miles Kane is on tour in the UK from 22 November – tickets here
