Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has put together a new album that sees some of Aretha Franklin's best work given new arrangements, that were recorded and produced at Abbey Road Studios.
A Brand New Me: Aretha Franklin With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is being released in November.
It is the second album where the RPO has put new arrangements behind a legendary artist to produce an album, following their arrangements on the works of Elvis Presley, which was toured as a live concert.
We're premiering the RPO's fantastic arrangement of "Respect" - listen below:
Co-producer Nick Patrick told The Independent: "'Respect is one of the most iconic records ever made by one of the greatest artists to have graced our lives. What an honour it has been to work on this."
Co-producer Don Reedman added: "'Respect' is one of the most beloved tracks that Aretha has ever recorded. It was an absolute pleasure to take it up a notch with the power of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and breathe fresh life into this iconic recording."
As well as "Respect", the forthcoming album will include new arrangements for "Think", "I Say A Little Prayer", and "Son Of A Preacher Man".
A Brand New Me: Aretha Franklin with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is released on 10 November on CD, vinyl and digital formats, via Atlantic Records
