Zayn Malik, formerly a member of pop group One Direction, has announced the release date of his debut single as a solo musician on Twitter.

The much-anticipated track is taken from Malik’s yet-to-be-named solo debut album, produced by two-time Grammy award-winning James ‘Malay’ Ho.

The announcement was posted on Malik’s Twitter account, with the title of the track, ‘Pillowtalk’. The track will be released on Friday, January 29.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, Malik revealed the single was written about sex, which he described as “so pure, so dirty and raw”.

He said: “Everybody has sex, and it’s something people wanna hear about. It’s part of everybody’s life, a very BIG part of life!”

The announcement, which was made early on Sunday, was met with much excitement from fans on Twitter:

According to Digital Spy, Malik will also be making his first talk show appearance on The Graham Norton Show since leaving One Direction on Friday.
