Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Caitlyn Jenner voiced her support for Kanye West amid concerns about the rapper’s recent behaviour and controversial presidential run.

The reality star appeared as a guest on Good Morning Britain on Monday when she was asked if West was receiving “support”.

“Since all of this has come down, I have just kind of watched it just like everybody else, so I haven’t really had a chance,” Jenner told hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway. “He’s living up in Wyoming most of the time and so I just wish him the best.”

The conversation follows Jenner’s past comments about running as West’s vice president in his 2020 election bid. She said, “You know, I made that as a joke at the time, about being his VP when he announced that. But you know I hope for the best for him.”

The former Olympic decathlete added, “He’s a really good guy. The only thing I really can talk about is really how he has treated me through everything. And he has been the most kind, loving human being.”

“And so good to me throughout the years, and especially through everything I’ve been through in the last five years,” she said.

Others have recently also expressed concerns for West’s wellbeing. The rapper has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and has publicly spoken out about the condition. Many celebrities, including singer Halsey, have called on others to exercise compassion.

In a recent tweet, West said he is “quite alright”. He tweeted, “There is a tactic of 4 D’s… Distract Discredit Dismiss To Destroy… I am quite alright… Take a second and think about what is being projected here.”
