Swift is set to open the show with her chart-topping new single “Me!”, a collaboration with Panic! at the Disco frontman Brendon Urie.
Madonna will team up with Colombian singer Maluma to perform “Medellin”, the lead single from her upcoming album Madame X.
Meanwhile, K-pop sensations BTS are expected to take to the stage with Halsey to sing recent hit “Boy with Luv”.
The awards ceremony will take place at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, with Kelly Clarkson set to host for a second year running.
Other performers include Mariah Carey, who will receive the Icon Award, and the newly reunited Jonas Brothers.
Rapper Cardi B leads the way in nominations, with 21, narrowly missing out on a record set by Drake and The Chainsmokers in 2017, who each had 22.
She will compete in categories including for top artist, top female artist and top rap artist.
Drake is in the mix again this year with 17 nominations, alongside Post Malone. Travis Scott is up for 12 awards while late rapper XXXTentacion is up for 10.
The Billboard Music Awards will be broadcast live on NBC tonight at 8pm EST, or 1am in the UK. The channel can be streamed legally on the official NBC website for viewers based in the US.

For those keen to watch the stars arrive, the verified Twitter account @BBMAs will be streaming from the red carpet from 6pm EST, with coverage hosted by Sofia Reyes, Sway Calloway and Jaymes Vaughan.
