Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

US rock band Allah-Las are releasing their new record Calico Review on September 9 but you can check it out first with this exclusive album stream on The Independent.

The album was recorded in the Valentine Recording Studio in LA, which had been out of use since 1979. A reminder: Allah-Las is composed of Pedrum Siadatian (vocals/lead guitar), Miles Michaud (vocals/rhythm guitar), Matthew Correia (vocals/drums), and Spencer Dunham(vocals/bass).

Q&A with Allah-Las

What are you listening to at the moment?

Spencer: Shintaro Sakamonto - Let's Dance Raw

What are your plans for the rest of 2016?

Matthew: We're touring for most of remaining days of 2016. Hope to have many new adventures and inspirations.

What was your first gig?

Pedrum: Our first show was at a Halloween house party in 2008 for about 10 people

What’s been the best so far?

Miles:There have been many memorable gigs along the way. It's hard to choose a favorite. The best shows happen when we make it to new cities and find an audience that we never knew existed, and we can all thrive off that energy of being together for the first time.
