Sir: Duff Hart-Davis claims that the whole rural community is angry at the prospect of hunting wild animals with dogs being made illegal. That is not true. I am proud to say that I am pleased at the prospect.

We long ago abolished other forms of animal cruelty for the pleasure of humans such as dog fighting, cock fighting, badger, bear and bull baiting.

As for the specious arguments about destroying employment, I read the same things about the abolition of slavery and how millions of people depended on slavery to maintain their way of life. Some 150 years later, can you believe that? So it will be with hunting.
