Letter: Weep for democracy

Sir: As a Liberal Democrat activist witnessing Tory and Labour embarrassment in selecting London mayoral candidates, I rejoice.

As a longstanding political activist wishing to have faith in the integrity of British politics, who has witnessed in the last decade the steady and justified growth in public cynicism at the manipulations and sleaze in British politics, I weep.
