Sir: Alan Smithers and Pamela Robinson classify teacher education institutions by reference to entry qualifications, Ofsted scores and employment statistics (report, 9 September). Even a superficial glance at the lists shows that there is little or no correlation between A-level scores and either of the other two measures. If anything, the lists show that many institutions display amazing skill in transforming the prospects of students who would have been rejected by more demanding universities. They, and their students, should be congratulated.
