Letter: Straw angers gays

Sir: As a child who comes from an alternative family, I can assure everybody that it is love that counts and not two married parents. My mother, sisters and our gay male role models were the envy of those of my friends who were tired of hearing their parents fight.

A gay, lesbian or single-parent family is one that requires extraordinary thought and commitment on the part of the parents. People who are willing to fight for their families send the most important of all messages to their children - that they are valued.
