Sir: Mike Boyle, who is supervising the Local Government Association programme for housing asylum seekers ("Straw takes emergency powers", 24 August) is worried about successfully integrating refugees into host communities. He says it would be inappropriate for councils in monocultural (presumably meaning very white and reputedly very Anglo-Saxon) areas to house as many refugees as multicultural areas. Inappropriate in whose eyes? I'm sure his views will be well received by racists wherever they reside.
