Sir: The "Third Way" philosophy of which we have recently been hearing so much is not, as some would have us believe, a shining new theory minted at LSE and Demos. Rather it is a middle-aged (if not now rather elderly) set of ideas which emerged about 50 years ago with Keynes' General Theory and the New Deal politics of Franklin Roosevelt. Credit where credit is due.
