Sir: The Independent carried no news of the Queen Mother's 99th birthday. This is yet another example of your obsessional republicanism.

An intelligent argument on whether the UK should retain the monarchy is well and good. I am not looking to you for gooey, "wonderful old lady" stories. But airbrushing people and institutions you don't like out of the news is not democratic either. We liberals can think for ourselves.
