Sir: Malcolm Ozanne (letter, 19 November) states: "There is no alternative to using my car. When one is found I shall willingly use it." I hope that he will, but it is my experience that the public will not.

Greater Manchester has excellent buses, trains and trams. Yet the A6 from Stockport to Manchester, for example, is always bumper-to-bumper, even though buses run 24 hours a day.

I would be quite happy to see the proposed city-centre toll for Manchester brought in.
