Sir: Jack Straw writes (Comment, 25 May) that as "we" set about preparing the Freedom of Information Bill, they examined legislation in Canada, New Zealand, Australia, France and the Netherlands. How far-sighted of him and his minders not to cite the example of the US, where freedom of information legislation has been so effective.
