Dumb kids' TV

Sir: I was surprised that Andreas Whittam Smith ("It's dumb to say that culture is just plumbing the depths", 8 March) left radio out of his pantheon of cultural delights.

The BBC networks, Radio 3 and Radio 4, are a must for literate people interested in the arts, current affairs and informed opinion. There is a wealth of drama, music, comedy, literary criticism and philosophical discussion to be found there daily. And one does not have to find parking to enjoy this munificence.
