Sir: The Sun is not a safe nuclear power plant (letter, 24 November). Thousands are killed each year by solar-induced skin cancer. It all goes to show that there is no completely safe form of power generation, only different levels of risk. Perhaps all electricity generators should be required to be as rigorous as the nuclear power industry in calculating present, and future, risks due to their actions.
