Sir: As Labour celebrates its centenary, it is important that one thing is not forgotten by New Labour's enthusiastic spin-doctors. That is that the Labour Party is about eliminating poverty or it is about nothing ("Blair in crusade for better morals", 6 September).
Policies like the Working Families Tax Credit should go a long way to help. But if Labour fails to tackle poverty, then no amount of "moral crusades" will save the party from being condemned, either by its founding fathers or by the electorate at large.
