John Fortune appears (with John Bird) as one half of "The Two Johns" on Rory Bremner... Who Else? (C4)

My last musical purchase was the pianist Mikhail Pletnev playing Scarlatti - I am a shameless Scarlatti freak after all.

When I was in Galway recently, I heard an amazing young Irish fiddle player, Martin Hayes; his new CD was one of my most recent purchases.

Recordings of Wilhelm Furtwangler conducting the Berlin Philharmonic in the 1940s have just been re-released on CD. They contain great performances of Beethoven, Wagner, Brahms, and my particular favourite, the Adagio from Bruckner's 7th Symphony.

Our production office is disastrously close to Harold Moore's secondhand record shop in Great Marlborough Street... which is where I bought a box set of LPs of the Hollywood String Quartet playing at the 1957 Edinburgh Festival.

Finally, I bought Imogen Cooper playing Schumann and Brahms - she's a wonderful pianist whose records I buy whenever I can.
