Grand Firework Spectactular

Leeds Castle (01622 880008) tonight, 5pm, adults pounds 9, children pounds 4

The theme of this year's extravaganza (right) at the magnificent moated castle is "Sci-Fi in the Sky". A sci-fi cinema show starts at 5.30pm and the firework display, which will include film scores from Star Wars, Star Trek and Batman, will start at 7.30pm. The event will include a food court and bar tent.

Festival of Light

Children can celebrate the Hindu New Year by having a go at a variety of creative activities, including making Mendhi and Rangoli patterns. Also in Brighton today, over at the Booth Museum of Natural History (01273 292 7777), Real Reptiles sessions will be held at 10.30am, 12noon, 2pm and 3.30pm, at which children over four can see, touch and learn about these fascinating creatures.

Bonfire Night Family Party

A Best Guy competition and a children's entertainer are on offer at the firework event tonight. The lighting of the bonfire is at 6.30pm and the pyrotechnics begin at 7pm. Last entry 6.45pm. NS
