According to Twitter account PSN Releases, the game will be called Star Wars: Maverick. PSN Releases is a bot account that monitors Sony’s PlayStation Network for new releases and titles.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that publishers Electronic Arts, who own the rights to produce games based on George Lucas’ sci-fi saga, were working on two upcoming Star Wars games.
One of these is a sequel to 2019’s hit single-player game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and the other was, according to Kotaku, a “smaller, more unusual project”.
Kotaku confirmed that Maverick is this second smaller game, being developed by EA Motive.
The image posted by PSN Releases features classic X-wing spaceships and an Imperial Star Destroyer, suggesting that the game will take place some time after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.
More details about Maverick and the prospective Fallen Order sequel are expected in the coming months.
