The official convention of Lucsafilm, Star Wars Celebration V, focussing on the Star Wars film series, will occur in the US city of Orlando, Florida this weekend, August 12-15. The theme for this year is the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back with 30,000 fans expected to attend.

Guests at this year's event include actors Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Ray Park (Darth Maul), and many more. Also, George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, will be interviewed by Jon Stewart of the satire TV news program The Daily Show.

This year marks the launch of Star Wars Celebration Radio on the satellite station SIRIUS XM Radio, it was announced Monday. The four-day live broadcast from Star Wars Celebration V at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, will be heard on SIRIUS channel 108 and XM channel 139. The channel will feature interviews with stars from the Star Wars films, behind-the-scenes talents, play-by-play of droid races, accounts of Jedi Training, and event panel discussions.

Star Wars Celebration conventions began in May 1999 in Denver, Colorado, timed with releases, such as Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. This event is the fifth in the US in addition ot conferences that happened in London (2007) and Japan (2008).
