On the long list for this year's documentary Oscar, David Weissman's film looks back at the Aids epidemic in San Francisco.
Through a series of interviews with men (and one female nurse) caught up in the "Gay Plague", it chronicles the sudden shift from the carefree utopianism of the late 1970s to the horror of the 1980s. It's a harrowing story, very well told.
