Scots boathand Sean (Martin Compston) wants to save his father's failing trawler from repossession, so reluctantly agrees to do some smuggling from Belgium – he's looking for black-market cigarettes but instead gets a crew of Chinese immigrants, whom he hides in the hold. Peter Mullan plays a cocky crewman.

Choppy seas and agonising guilt storm through an almost Conradian tale of moral delinquency, kept afloat by excellent performances.
