Silent Hill (15)

This hysterical (as in, not funny) psychothriller stars Radha Mitchell and Sean Bean as a couple whose adopted daughter is possessed by the ghosts of an abandoned mining town.

Mitchell makes the mistake of taking the child there, only to find herself trapped in an ashy phantasmagoria. Hardly a single fright, and not a fragment of sense, can be extracted from it.
