Rabbit on the Moon (18) <!-- none onestar twostar threestar fourstar fivestar -->
This Mexican thriller begins promisingly, unfolding the story of an assassination in Mexico City that drags an innocent young couple into the ensuing conspiracy. Antonio (Bruno Bichir) and Julie (Lorraine Pilkington) strike a real-estate deal with a lowlife operator whose connection with a corrupt police unit spells disaster for all concerned. Once the story splits in two and Antonio flees to London, something goes horribly awry: the acting takes a nosedive, and the atmosphere of dread dissipates in outrageous brakes, skids and reverses - the narrative equivalent of dangerous driving.
