Adapted from Jim Thompson's 1952 novel of the same name, The Killer Inside Me follows Deputy Sheriff Lou Ford (superbly played by Casey Affleck), a reliable member of the small Texan town community who hides a dark secret, which slowly reveals itself.
When this stylishly shot film was released back in June, coverage mainly focused on the savage beatings of women that sent cinemagoers to cover their eyes and even walk out. Winterbottom defended the scenes by saying he wanted people to see sexual assault for what it was Decide in the safety of your own home whether this is a gratuitous exercise in misogyny or a brave commentary about violence.
