At a time when both comedy sketch shows and Saturday night television have reached something of a nadir, it is always comforting to come back to the familiar joys of Morecambe and Wise.
This latest collection from the duo's BBC era, consisting of seven episodes, sees Eric and Ernie on top form, with guest stars including Arthur Lowe, of Dad's Army fame, and, in one of Morecambe and Wise's most famous sketches, Glenda Jackson (then an actress and now a Labour MP). If you like your comedy edgy and controversial then you won't find much to enjoy here, but even though the show may now appear rather outdated, their showmanship remains something to marvel at. Plus, if you are stuck for something to watch when older relatives come to visit, you won't find anything better.
