But why is it called The Karate Kid when it's about kung fu? And why should we cheer as 12-year-olds kick each other? And how come a shrimpy American beginner can defeat so many Chinese children who have been training their whole lives? Alas, the film can't find time to answer these questions in its 140 long minutes.
