The title character of Arthur wasproblematic enough 30 years ago,when he was played by DudleyMoore, but in the remake he’s evenricher, even more hedonistic, and,thanks to the casting of Russell Brand,a lot less sweet and innocent. Howcan we sympathise when the onlything standing between him and hiskooky working-class dreamgirl(Greta Gerwig) is his own spinelessselfishness.
