This perfectly pleasant celebration of burlesque would look better as a late-night documentary on E4; on the big screen its impact feels rather lost.

Showgirls past and present yarn about their time on stage – one, "Satan's Angel", is a lady of 76 still doing shows – while the current doyenne, Immodesty Blaize, talks us through burlesque's modest revival among British audiences.

The throwback campery of her stage performances might not be to everyone's taste, but there's no denying its verve and sass, or indeed Ms Blaize's eloquent championing of the genre.
