This inoffensive, slightly soporific animation is targeted at young children, who may not pick up on its eco-theme, but will probably warm to the titular turtle.
Nothing teenage, mutant or indeed Ninja about Sammy, voiced in old age by John Hurt as he looks back on a life of adventure and lost love: the young Sammy (Dominic Cooper) is mad for she-turtle Shelly (Gemma Arterton), but fate seems bent on keeping them apart. The standard of draughtsmanship is high, though the voicework and the script will not give Pixar any sleepless nights.
