Decades ago Hilde Backer, an elderly Swedish lady and Holocaust survivor, made regular charitable donations to a schooling program in Kenya. The unknown child she sponsored, Chris Mburu, got a Harvard education and became a human rights lawyer at the UN. He in turn has created his own sponsorship scheme, and invited his one-time benefactor to his homeland for a moving meeting. Jennifer Arnold's documentary is "worthy" in the best sense, reminding us in this age of annoying high-street charity muggers that even a little money can make a vast difference to a life.
