Director Quentin Tarantino reveals Kill Bill 3 plans for 2014
American director Quentin Tarantino revealed his intention to film Kill Bill Vol.3 for a 2014 release on the Italian talk show Parla Con Me. Starring American actress Uma Thurman, Kill Bill Vol.1 and Kill Bill Vol.2 were released in 2003 and 2004, earning a total of over $332 million worldwide. Tarantino announced that he preferred a 10-year break to take place between Vol.2 and the proposed Vol.3, to allow the lead character time to "have a break." Tarantino has alluded to Kill Bill Vol.3 in the past, hinting that the storyline may center around the revenge of Nikki Green, the four-year-old daughter of assassin Copperhead (American actress Vivica A. Fox), who is witness to her mother's murder in the first Kill Bill.

Cast settled for remake of Swedish vampire hit, Låt Den Rätte Komma In
American actor Richard Jenkins has been cast alongside American child actress Chloë Moretz and Australian child actor Kodi Smit-McPhee in Let the Right One In, an American remake of the 2008 Swedish vampire film Låt Den Rätte Komma In, according to entertainment trade magazine Variety. Based on the 2004 novel of the same name by Swedish author John Ajvide Lindqvist, the film charts the relationship between a pre-teen boy and his 200-year-old vampire child girlfriend. American director Matt Reeves begins production in New Mexico this fall.

Paramount pencils in Transformers 3 for July 1, 2011
American director Michael Bay announced via his own website his deal with Paramount Pictures to direct Transformers 3, due in theaters July 1, 2011. American actors Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox will reprise their roles from the previous two films in the franchise (also directed by Bay), as will American executive producer Steven Spielberg. Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen have grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide.

American Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx has joined the cast of the Legendary Pictures' comedy Due Date, according to entertainment trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter. The road-trip movie, to be directed by American filmmaker Todd Phillips, features American actor Robert Downey Jr. as an anxious, expectant father who hitches a ride with a lackadaisical college student (American actor Zach Galifianakis) to attend the birth of his child on time. Foxx portrays Downey's best friend, an ex-boyfriend of Downey's pregnant wife. Foxx and Downey were last paired in the 2009 drama The Soloist.

Wettest Country attracts hottest talent: Shia LaBeouf, Scarlett Johansson
American actors Shia LaBeouf, Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Gosling have all become associated with the indie film adaptation of American author Matt Bondurant's 2008 novel, The Wettest Country in the World, according to the Hollywood Reporter movie-news blog, Risky Biz. The Wettest Country in the World was formerly set up at Columbia Pictures, but the studio put the movie into turnaround (relinquishing rights to the film), and financing is currently being raised for an independent production of the project. This historical crime drama follows the travails of Depression-era bootleggers in the American South. No start date or official cast confirmation will be made available until funding is secured by indie film company Red Wagon Productions.

Hugh Jackman signs up for rock 'em, sock 'em robot action film, Real Steel
Australian actor Hugh Jackman is in advanced negotiations to star in the DreamWorks boxing robot film Real Steel, according to entertainment trade publication Variety. Jackman will portray an obsolete boxer who becomes a robot boxing promoter and bonds with his newfound 13-year-old son as their robot battles its way through various championships. Real Steel begins production in May 2010 with Canadian-American director Shawn Levy.

Jessica Alba negotiates role in Little Fockers
American actress Jessica Alba is in advanced negotiations to join the cast of Little Fockers, the third film in the comedic Meet the Fockers franchise, according to entertainment trade magazine Variety. Alba will join American actors Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro and Owen Wilson in a key role. Little Fockers was previously announced for a July 30, 2010 release date.

Uma Thurman joins cast of comedic Ceremony
Oscar-winning American actress Uma Thurman has been cast in the Nala Films comedy Ceremony, according to entertainment trade publication Variety. Thurman will play a future bride who attracts a new admirer right before the wedding. American filmmaker Max Winkler is set to direct.

American movie executive Peter Chernin, a recent addition at 20th Century Fox, is moving forward The Deep Blue Goodbye, a mystery set to star American actor Leonardo DiCaprio, according to entertainment trade publication Variety. The film is based on 1964's The Deep Blue Good-By by the late American author John D. MacDonald, the first in his series of 21 novels starring detective Travis McGee. Chernin, DiCaprio and American producer Jennifer Davisson are all co-producers on the film, starring DiCaprio as McGee.

Fox International heats up Hot Summer Days in China
Fox International Productions launches its first Chinese production with the Chinese-language romantic comedy Hot Summer Days, according to entertainment trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be co-directed by Chinese filmmakers Wing Shya (a former cinematographer) and Tony Chan, and co-produced by Fox, Star Television Asia and Huayi Brothers Media. Hot Summer Days has already been cast with Hong Kong actors Jacky Cheung and Nicholas Tse, Chinese actors Daniel Wu, Vivian Hsu, Jing Boran, and Gordon Liu, and Taiwanese actresses Réne Liu and Barbie Hsu. Filming in Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong began in August, for an early 2010 release in China.

Israel selects Arami as Oscar nom choice for Best Foreign Language Film
The Israeli historical drama Arami won Best Film and Best Director honors at the Israeli Film Academy's Ophir Awards on September 26, making the movie the automatic choice to represent the country in the Best Foreign Language Film category at next year's 82nd annual Oscars ceremony. Directed by Israeli filmmaker Yaron Shani and Palestinian Scandar Copti, Arami is a gritty crime drama set in Haifa, Israel. Announcements are scheduled to take place for the Best Foreign Language nominees on February 2, 2010, and the Academy Awards ceremony takes place March 7 in Los Angeles, California.

Friends: The Movie scheduled for summer 2011
Warner Bros. Pictures intends to reunite the cast of the defunct NBC sitcom Friends in the summer of 2011 for Friends: The Movie, according to American actor James Michael Tyler. (Tyler portrayed Gunther, manager of the Central Perk coffee house, a central location of the series.) American TV producers Marta Kauffman and David Crane, co-creators of Friends, will write and produce Friends: The Movie. The film will reunite American actresses Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox, the biggest successes spawned from the 1994-2004 series, with all other original members of the cast.

Erika Sawajiri replaced by Meisa Kuroki in Space Battleship Yamato
Robot Communications has replaced Japanese actress Erika Sawajiri in its upcoming film adaptation of the science-fiction anime series Uch? Senkan Yamato ( Space Battleship Yamato) with Japanese actress Meisa Kuroki, according to entertainment trade publication The Hollywood Reporter. Citing breach of contract, the Stardust Promotions agency is also dropping the embattled Sawajiri from its roster of actors. Recent reports of Sawajiri's alleged drug use is said to have caused this recent ostracizing. Sawajiri has battled her own negative image in the conservative court of Japanese public opinion ever since an unfavorably viewed 2007 press appearance.

China chooses Méi Lánf?ng as Best Foreign Language Film Oscar contender
The People's Republic of China has chosen Chinese director Chen Kaige's Peking opera biopic Méi Lánf?ng ( Forever Enthralled) as the country's contender for the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 2010 Academy Awards. The Chinese film tells the story of Mei Lanfang, one of the country's premiere opera singers, starring Hong Kong actor Leon Lei as the title character. Announcements arrive for the Best Foreign Language nominees on February 2, 2010. The Academy Awards ceremony takes place March 7 in Los Angeles, California.
