From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It was the perfect antidote to years of Glee glaucoma and even included a catchy number involving Anna Kendrick playing a plastic cup.

Thus, there was no question Pitch Perfect was going to be back for more, especially in an age where Hollywood has a scent for sequels.

The latest trailer for Pitch Perfect 2 starts off with its strongest and funniest actor, Rebel Wilson, singing "Wrecking Ball" from a swing hanging from the stage of the Kennedy Centre in Washington, DC. That's right: Wilson's character, Fat Amy, is performing for the President and the First Lady along with the other Barden Bellas when the swing and her dress malfunction, forcing her to flash the entire audience and the Commander-in-Chief.

They are suspended from all competitions as a result - unless they beat the European champions in some sort of a cappella-Coachella World Cup. The Europeans by the way are like a cross between Kraftwerk and a Goth version of ABBA. So conclusion: it's going to be impossible for the Bellas.

However, there's only one way you can win over a difficult crowd: Beyonce, and the trailer implies that "Run the World (Girls)" may be this film's version of "Cups".
