Watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens two days early, as long as you fly over the Atlantic ocean

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The US gets Star Wars: The Force Awakens on 18 December, the UK on the 17th, but it is possible to see it as early as the 16th - as long as you book a flight from the States to Paris.

Air France has partnered with Disney and Lucasfilm to present a ‘Flight & Cinema’ package, which will grant anyone who books onto one of four specific flights to Paris on 15 December tickets to one of two special pre-screenings of JJ Abrams’ sequel.

It’s a pretty bizarre promotion, with the flights leaving San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York, costing $1,400 and coming with a side of jet-lag for your movie-watching experience.

A “complimentary ride” from Charles De Gaulle airport will take die-hard fans to EuropaCorp’s theater in nearby Tremblay, where the film will be screened in English at 12:45 PM and 3:30 PM local time on 16 December.

Deadline reports that “there has been quite a bit of interest” already.

There’s no hotel or return flights included in the package though, so after your Star Wars fix you’re pretty much just stuck in northern France.

For the sane, Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in cinemas across Europe on 17 December.
