From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

As the third xXx film edges nearer, a first-look clip has been released showing Vin Diesel in action as Xander Cage - and it feels like a scene directly ripped from the Fast & Furious franchise.

The brief clip shows Diesel chase Rogue One actor Donnie Yen on motorbikes that turn into water skis in mid-air as they hit the ocean.

The Return of Xander Cage dropped a first trailer earlier this year clocking up a staggering 100 million views in just two days, figures that signal Diesel's star power. The trailer for another of his films, Fast & Furious 8 (which has been handed a memorably brilliant US title), became the fastest viewed in YouTube history earlier this month.

The first xXx film was released by Sony in 2002 following The Fast and the Furious' success in 2000. Diesel was unable to return for poorly-received sequel State of the Union due to filming commitments - Ice Cube starred instead - but with this level of excitement building for the third entry, it's fair to deduce that xXx minus Diesel doesn't work.

Also along for the ride is Toni Collette and an assortment of recognisable faces from the world of US TV including Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black), Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries) and the Hound himself, Rory McCann (Game of Thrones).

xXx 3: The Return of Xander Cage is released in the UK on 19 January.
