From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

So it's reassuring to see Warner Bros. debut the film's final trailer in epic style at the MTV Movie Awards, with ass-kicking aplenty and an intriguing tease of the film's villain.
"The boys in the trenches called her Doctor Poison," Chris Pine's Steve Trevor seems to warn the Amazons. "Millions would die, the war would never end."
Played by Elena Anaya, Doctor Poison is a classic Wonder Woman villain in the comics and, though she's seen various guises, she's commonly a dangerous agent of the Axis powers intent on wreaking havoc on the US.
This trailer seems to give her a much greater focus than we've seen previously, though it's unlikely she'll be the film's major villain; David Thewlis is, in fact, playing the mighty god Ares in the film, and there have been brief glimpses of an epic battle between the him and our hero.
Wonder Woman sees the return of Gal Gadot in the titular role, alongside Robin Wright, Danny Huston, Connie Nielsen, and Lucy Davis.
Wonder Woman hits UK cinemas 1 June.
