From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Gal Gadot may be busy filming Wonder Woman 1984 – the sequel to the hit solo film of last year – but she took the time to visit a local children’s hospital, in full costume.

The actor stopped by Inova Children’s Hospital in Annandale, Virginia, with production having previously landed in Washington DC to shoot the superpowered follow-up.

“Thank you Gal Gadot for visiting us at Inova Children’s Hospital,” tweeted Dr. Lucas Collazo, alongside a photo of Gadot posing with the hospital’s staff.

"You are a true Wonder Woman. The kids loved it... and so did the staff."

Director Patty Jenkins previously dropped a bombshell about the DC sequel, by posting a first look at the film that included Chris Pine‘s Steve Trevor seemingly alive and well in the 1980s.

"Welcome to WONDER WOMAN 1984, Steve Trevor! #WW84" Jenkins wrote. Gadot, meanwhile, also posted a first look at Diana, looking extremely concerned while gazing at a wall of TV screens, all airing some suitably 80s images – that includes Dynasty‘s own J.R..

The film will see Wonder Woman face off against Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah, with Game of Thrones‘ Pedro Pascal also onboard in a “pivotal role”.
