The Game of Thrones finale provided HBO with the perfect opportunity to tease the channel’s future. Namely, to offer a first look at season three of Westworld.
The trailer focuses on new cast member Aaron Paul, who’s also joined by Lena Waithe, although a familiar face does appear: Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores.
Last season’s finale had seen the character smuggle her and several other hosts’s consciousnesses out of the Westworld park and into the real world.
When asked if the hosts will be able to function in the same way in the real world away from the maintenance they continually received in the park, co-showrunner Lisa Joy told The Independent: “I have a season coming up for you.”
Whatever happens, Joy also teased that season 3 will be “a very different” Westworld, hinting that the majority of scenes will take place back in the real world.
Westworld season 3 is set to debut in 2020.
