Star Wars 7 leaked photo of Adam Driver changes everything
Character to pilot X-Wing rather than TIE Fighter?

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.A photo appearing to show Adam Driver on the Star Wars: Episode 7 set has upset the theory that he will play a Sith lord or main villain in the fillm: He's wearing an X-Wing pilot's uniform.
The photo (below) was originally posted on Facebook by Rick Lawrence and shows the unmistakable orange spacesuit of the Rebel Alliance, and though the resolution is low it looks a lot like the Girls actor is wearing it.
We do know that X-Wings will feature in the sequel, with JJ Abrams having previously shown one off on set, but which main character (if any) will be flying one remains up in the air.
There's still a chance Driver's character starts off good and then turns bad, or is impersonating an X-Wing pilot here to infiltrate the Rebels (if they even still exist?) but if he is playing a villain it certainly doesn't look to be of the Darth Maul ilk.
Filming on the sequel resumed last month following Harrison Ford's injury, with another leak coming the week before teasing what the new Stormtroopers might look like.
Star Wars: Episode 7 is set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and is set to open in cinemas on 18 December, 2015.
