Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

A trailer has been released for Paul Thomas Anderson’s documentary film Junun, which sees him travel to India with Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood.

The film is streaming on Mubi now (the connoisseur’s Netflix), which describes it thus:

'In Spring 2015 Israeli composer Shye Ben Tzur, Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood and The Rajasthan Express were hosted by the Maharaja of Jodhpur at Mehrangarh Fort. This beautiful and joyously unique 3 week union resulted in the album and film JUNUN (madness of love).'

PTA has been taking a break from feature films of late, shooting a music video on the streets of New York a couple of months back for Joanna Newsom’s new single Sapokanikan.

Just 54-minutes long, Junun premiered at the New York Film Festival earlier in the year.

The auteur’s last major film was Inherent Vice, a Thomas Pynchon adaptation, though his next project remains a mystery.

If the Hollywood trade mags are to be believed however, he bizarrely might be directing a live-action version of Pinnochio.
