Venom trailer 2018

The first reactions to Venom have rolled in days after Tom Hardy revealed his favourite scenes were cut out of the finished film.

Hardy plays the comic book villain, real name Eddie Brock, in director Ruben Fleischer’s Spider-Man spin-off, which premiered in Los Angeles on Monday evening (1 October).

The verdicts - as many predicted - are rather middling. However, full reviews won’t be published until later today ahead of its release tomorrow.

When asked by ComicsExplained, what his favourite scene in the film was, Hardy answered: “Things that aren’t in this movie. There are like 30 to 40 minutes worth of scenes that aren’t in this movie… all of them. Mad puppeteering scenes, dark comedy scenes. You know what I mean? They just never made it in.”

The character of Venom is a symbiotic alien creature which kills its enemies by biting off their heads. The film co-stars Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate.

Venom is in cinemas 3 October.
