From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The star is playing the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn author for Citizen Twain at California's Pasadena Playhouse from 21-30 August. Kilmer, 53, wrote and directs the stage show, which he hopes to take to Broadway.
And the Heat and Batman Forever actor undergoes quite a transformation for the role, which he tweeted pictures of.
"Good Twain selfie," he captioned one of the shots.
Last month, Kilmer told the Los Angeles Times: "There's a part of the makeup that starts to become the way I understand Mark Twain.
"He's old in my story … old people are often frustrated because their movement becomes restricted."
