From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Though iPhone-shot cinema is hardly a new fad (see Sean Baker's 2015 film Tangerine), it's fascinating to see one of Hollywood's true stalwarts embrace its territory.

Unsane sees Steven Soderbergh use the filming technique for his new thriller that delves headfirst into the stark paranoia and terror which festers in victims of stalking and gaslighting.

The Crown's Claire Foy stars as a young woman who's left her hometown in order to escape the shadow of her longtime stalker, hoping to start a new life.

However, when she becomes involuntarily committed to a mental institution, her own reality becomes warped beyond comprehension. She's forced to ask herself: what is real? And what could just be her fears and delusions?

Jay Pharoah (Saturday Night Live), Joshua Leonard (The Blair Witch Project), Juno Temple (Atonement), Aimee Mullins (Stranger Things), and Amy Irving (Traffic) also star, with a script penned by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer.

Unsane hits UK cinemas 23 March.
