From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. M. Night Shyamalan has announced he is making a sequel to his film Unbreakable.

The writer-director confirmed the news via his social media account on Wednesday (26 April) revealing the project he's been working on titled Glass is a follow-up to his 2000 drama.

Both Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson will both reprise their roles with the film scheduled to be released 18 January 2019.

Glass won't merely be an Unbreakable sequel. It will continue the story of Split, the James McAvoy horror thriller which was revealed to share a universe with The film in a brief post-credits scene featuring Willis as character David Dunn.

McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy will both return for Glass.

Having released a string of duds (The Lady in the Water/The Last Airbender), the filmmaker - who hit the big time with 1999 horror drama The Sixth Sense - has enjoyed recent box office success with both Split and previous film The Visit.

Shyamalan wrote on Twitter: “It’s taken 17 years but I can finally answer the #1 question I get, 'Are you making a f#&@ing sequel to Unbreakable or what?' My new film is the sequel to #Unbreakable AND #Split.

“It was always my dream to have both films collide in this third film.”
