Tyler Perry has donated $100,000 to a legal defence fund for Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker.

Taylor, 26, was shot to death during a failed narcotics raid at her residence in Louisville, Kentucky, in March. No drugs were found at her home.

None of the three officers involved were charged in Taylor’s death. Walker, who was at the residence during the shooting, has been sued by one of the officers.

Sources close to Perry confirmed to Variety that the actor and writer is indeed the person who donated the funds. The Independent has also confirmed that the donation came from Perry.

Perry’s name is displayed on a Go Fund Me page set up for Walker, next to four donations – one  worth $50,000, one worth $30,000, and two worth $10,000 – totaling $100,000.

Walker’s attorney Steve Romines told the local TV station WDRB that he received a phone call from Perry on Sunday, after Perry contributed the funds on Go Fund Me.

Romines told the station he is “very appreciative of Tyler's generosity”.

On Twitter, Romines shared that he had “received a call this morning from someone claiming to be Tyler Perry who wished to assist Kenny Walker’s defense”.

“A donation of $100,000 a few mins later convinced me it was in fact him,” Romines added. “His generosity is remarkable. Thanks @tylerperry.”
