From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We might finally find out, as it seems director Doug Liman’s Tom Cruise-starrer Luna Park is moving ahead, having tapped Pan scribe Jason Fuchs to write a new draft of the script with a view to getting the wheels in motion next year, according to Variety.
Luna Park’s premise is slightly bonkers, centring on a ‘group of renegade former space employees who travel the world, stealing the equipment they need to travel back to the moon to acquire an energy source.’
Jake Gyllenhaal was originally attached to star, with Liman later meeting with Chris Pine and Andrew Garfield about the project, before finally landing Cruise, who might be able to squeeze in the film before he starts shooting Mission: Impossible 6.
Cruise is all about the sci-fi thrillers lately, having previously starred in Edge of Tomorrow, which saw him forced to fight the same alien battle every day.
