Your support makes all the difference.Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have agreed to host the Golden Globes in 2014 and 2015 in a coup for US broadcaster NBC.
The comedy duo were warmly received by critics and audiences alike this year when they hosted the prestigious film and TV awards ceremony.
The telecast secured 19.7 million viewers in the US, representing a six-year high for the show, and their hilarious opening dialogue – which made fun of Lena Dunham, James Cameron and Ben Affleck– should mean viewers tune in once again next year.
They joked about the previous host, Ricky Gervais, saying: "We have no intention of being edgy or offensive tonight, because as Ricky learned the hard way, when you run afoul of the Hollywood Foreign Press, they make you host this show two more times."
Their performance as hosts was contrasted with Seth MacFarlane's turn at the Oscars, which earned the Family Guy creator poor reviews.
However, Fey and Poehler, the stars of 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation respectively, have previously ruled out hosting the biggest awards show on the calendar, saying the pre-show preparation for the Academy Awards would interfere with their busy schedules. Ellen DeGeneres was recently confirmed as the host of the 2014 Oscars.
The producers and executives behind the Golden Globes ceremony seemed delighted to have secured Fey and Poehler.
NBC's president of alternative and late night programming Paul Telegdy told The Hollywood Reporter: "Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business, and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season.
"We're elated they wanted to host together again and that they committed for the next two years."
Allen Shapiro, whose Dick Clark Productions company produces the show, said: "Tina and Amy have a truly unique chemistry, making them one of the most talented and captivating pairings of all time. We are thrilled to have them back in 2014 and 2015."
